La Particularité de nos Brunello Riservas, est qu’ils sont issus de raisins proprement sélectionnés dans une seule de nos parcelles. Ce vin n’étant pas élaboré à chaque millésime, ces Sangiovese à maturité parfaite, bénéficient d’une vinification et d’un vieillissement similaire à nos Brunello. Les tannins de la peau du fruit sont tels, qu’ils porteront avec le temps un contraste complexe de structure et d’élégance. La durée minimum demandée pour le vieillissement est de 6 ans avant la mise sur le marché. En allant plus loin, préservé dans une cave, nos Riservas révèleront une longévité unique de fraicheur dans la garde.
This rich red is energetic and balanced, saturated with black cherry, plum and mineral flavors. Accents of wild rosemary and sage chime in as this remains fresh and long on the iron and underbrush aftertaste. Best from 2024 through 2045. —B.S.
This cherry- and raspberry-flavored red is underlined by a saline note, with floral, eucalyptus, thyme and tobacco notes joining the party as everything plays out on the lingering, tightly wound finish. Shows energy and finds balance in the end. Best from 2026 through 2043. —B.S.
Sweet berries and cherries with orange peel and hints of sandalwood. Medium to full body with firm, integrated tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Firm tannins, but together and so delicious already. Give this two or three years to come around even more. Try after 2023
A single vineyard expression from Pian Bossolino, La Fiorita’s Riserva was picked on 10 October. It comes across as very ripe in its aromas of wild black cherry and exotically spiced plum. Traces of smoke interject. There is a stony undertow on the mid-palate countering the boisterous mix of red and black fruit. A full-bodied, southern Brunello, this is well-proportioned and elegant in tannins. It finishes delectably sappy. Among the many overhauls this estate has made in the last few years, La Fiorita began working with renowned consultant Maurizio Castelli in 2016. Drinking window: 2022-2035
La Fiorita's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva leaves a lasting impression that is due to the purity and the depth of aromas in part but is also due to the very high 15% alcohol. A little less alcoholic heat would be more conducive to the delicate and lifted aromas of Sangiovese. Fruit for the Riserva comes solely from the Pian Bossolino vineyard. This wine is instead all about brawn and muscle; as a result, you're best off serving it with a creamy dish like steak smothered in mushroom sauce. A mere 3,200 bottles are hitting the market now.
The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (with only 3,900 bottles made) shows a dark and nicely saturated appearance followed by fruit-forward aromas of dark cherry, cassis, spice, moist soil, balsam herb and fresh pine cone. This pretty wine reveals all the classic characteristics of Brunello and they are presented with elegant and lasting intensity. The tannins and acidity are firmly developed in this vintage and pave the way for longer cellar aging potential and future evolution.

Maturing ruby with narrow orange rim. Tobacco-leaf nose indicating quick development. The palate is much more interesting, with tangy dark fruit that comes in layers. Grainy tannins stick to the palate, while the fruit spreads out on the finish. (WS)
Aromas of plums and berries with flowers and dried meat. It’s full-bodied with round, juicy tannins and an extremely polished and beautiful finish. Hints of walnut and spice at the end, not to mention ash. Very attractive to taste now, but better after 2025.
This Riserva from La Fiorita boasts a full and generous style with pretty richness, concentration and ample intensity. This pretty wine really does hit those 2015 vintage expectations dead on. The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers plush fruit and good softness with cherry, cassis, spice, potting soil and candied orange peel. There is balanced intensity here with Sangiovese purity that cedes to lightly toasted aromas.

Mid Ruby. Heady, light-toned, just on the right side of volatile. Slightly porty. Quiet flattering and satisfying, but not very appetising. Pretty flashy!
he 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from La Fiorita is a pretty, floral and sweetly spiced effort. Dried roses, black cherry, cinnamon, clove and a dusting of cocoa create a seductive display. It’s silky in texture and polished, with depths of dark red berry fruit, wild herbal tones and a note of menthol, which forms toward the close. The first hint of tannin comes through in the finish, yet it is perfectly balanced by residual acids with an air of inner rose lingering long. In the past, I’ve found the style of this house to be too focused on ripeness and wood, yet that is not the case in this wonderfully balanced and oak-integrated 2015 Riserva.
Crushed stone, exotic spices, roses and strawberries create an alluring bouquet as the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva blossoms in the glass. It soothes with silky textures and dark ripe fruits, lifted by bright acidity and minty herbal tones. The tannic structure comes through in the finale, clenching the palate firm with youthful poise, while leaving hints of plum under an air of violet-tinged florals. Though it’s tightly wound, only a few years of cellaring should be necessary to enjoy the 2016 Riserva to its full effect
